Branding has become the latest catch-all word to use interchangeably with other words like “marketing… advertising… or graphic design.” So what is it, exactly?

D&A Design sees “branding” as a verb: It is how businesses present themselves in every point of contact that customers, employees, and the general public experience. Branding is the consistent presentation and tone of the business: From how a logo is displayed in-person, online, or on-shelf to the colors, fonts, and imagery that is used, to how an employee answers the phone or signs-off on an email -- “branding” is making sure that it is all consistent.
